The Liturgy of the Hours or Divine Office, is the universal prayer of the Church. It is a mixture of scripture and prayer spread across the day and liturgical season of the Church. Lay Dominicans minimally recite Morning Prayer (Lauds) and Evening Prayer (Vespers) each day. These hinge moments of our day help to unit our lives to the whole Church and frame each day.

You can learn more about the Liturgy of the Hours, by reviewing the Provincial Novitiate Module found under the “Study” tab on this site. You can learn to pray the Liturgy of the Hours by purchasing a one volume Christian Prayer book or four volume set at a Catholic bookstore. Also, you can learn by using an app such as iBreviary.com.
